What you’ll do
Every day, you’ll plan our transport operations with the help of vehicle optimisation software. Customer demand, fleet availability, staffing levels – you’ll need to think about all this and more, whilst working to budgets. It’s a fast-paced setting where we pride ourselves on excellence: getting the right products to the right customer at the right time! Of course, Health & Safety is paramount and you’ll see that regulations are followed. You’ll also assign work to drivers, prepare their tachographs and produce transport data, as well as carrying out safety checks on customer delivery points.

In this role, being organised is only the start. You also need to be motivated, adaptable and able to take the initiative. Experience in Distribution, ideally in a Transport Office, is a definite must. With this background, you’ll know all about stock control, key warehouse systems and regulations, for example EU Drivers’ Hours and software such as Optrak. However, it’s your people skills that will make all the difference. You’ll know how to handle Drivers – and make sure they give customers a great service. A minimum of Grade C GCSEs (or equivalent, including Maths and English) and ideally a CPC will complete the picture.
